DJI Agras T40 Pre-Season Inspection and Maintenance Guide
26 May 2024
From arm locks to flow meter calibration and from a staged test flight to spare parts, a step-by-step checklist to get your T40 ready for the season.
Since its launch at the end of 2022, the DJI Agras T40 has been used by many farmers and contract sprayers in Türkiye. A breakdown in the middle of a busy season means lost work and a missed spraying window, so the T40 should be checked systematically before every season. The list below covers the essential steps.
Note: The Agras T40 is a previous-generation DJI spraying drone. The current line-up includes the Agras T50, Agras T55 and Agras T70P. The information here remains relevant for operators still flying the T40.
Why a Pre-Season Check Matters
A pre-season check lets you catch problems calmly in the workshop. A loose arm, a worn bearing or a drifted flow meter calibration can cost a full working day or cause an accident mid-season.
1. Arms
- Unfold and lock the arms. If an arm moves from folded to open with almost no resistance, tighten the nut with a 16 mm socket.
- Hold each arm at the motor base and gently shake it; there should be no play.
- You should hear a click when locking. Too loose and it may open in flight; too tight and it can cause micro-cracks in the carbon arm. Adjust with the hex adjuster inside the arm.
2. Motors and Propellers
- Unfold the propellers and check their tightness and adapter screws.
- Replace cracked or chipped propellers in pairs, with new washers.
- Turn each motor by hand. Friction or roughness can indicate coil corrosion or bearing damage; contact service.
3. Spraying System Calibration
- Open the spraying system settings in the DJI Agras app.
- Add one litre of water, purge the air and run the flow meter calibration.
- Empty the tank and run the tare calibration for the weight sensors.
- Add 20 litres of water and confirm the displayed load is correct.
- Run the atomizers to confirm maximum flow and no leaks.
We explain how the system works in our article on the Agras T40 spraying system.
4. Batteries and Charging Equipment
- Inspect battery connectors for corrosion or damage.
- Confirm each battery holds charge, powers the drone and fast-charges properly.
- Clean connectors with high-purity isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab or microfibre cloth, and repeat regularly during the season.
- Batteries should have been stored at 40-60% over winter; fully charge them at the start of the season and check cell balance.
5. Staged Test Flight
- Power on and idle on the ground; check the app for errors.
- Take off slowly and hover briefly.
- Fly manually in an open area to check response.
- Test the radar against an obstacle and check altitude readings.
- Create a short automatic route and watch the drone complete it.
- Finally, fly with a full tank of water.
6. Spare Parts and Tools
- Stock propellers, washers, nozzle/atomizer parts and strainers. Busy operators should also keep a spare motor and ESC.
- Prepare magnetic trays and an organised tool kit.
- Work in a well-lit area and photograph each disassembly step.
