Maintenance Tips for Agricultural Drones
26 November 2024
From end-of-day cleaning to winter storage, we have collected the routines that keep a farm drone working reliably for years.
Spraying drones work in dust, moisture and chemicals. Neglect maintenance and you risk a motor, nozzle or battery failure in the middle of the busy season. Here are daily care routines and storage rules that apply to any model. For a detailed pre-season inspection, see our Agras T40 Pre-Season Maintenance Guide.
At the End of Every Working Day
Spraying system
- Fill the tank with clean water and run the pumps and nozzles to flush the system.
- Remove and clean the strainers; most blockages start there.
- Repeat the rinse after herbicide use.
Body, motors and propellers
- Wipe the body, arms and radar surfaces. Models with a high IP rating can be washed with low-pressure water; avoid spraying connectors directly.
- Check propellers for cracks or looseness and replace damaged ones with genuine parts.
- Turn the motors by hand; contact service if you feel friction or hear unusual noise.
Battery Care
- Let batteries cool after a hot flight before charging, or use the charger's cooling system.
- Avoid deep discharge; land before the battery drops below 20%.
- Keep connectors clean and dry; do not use a battery with signs of corrosion.
- For long-term storage, keep batteries at 40-60% charge in a cool, dry place. DJI smart batteries self-discharge to this level while idle. Storing them full or empty shortens cell life.
- Check the charge level every few months during long storage.
Electronics and Software
- Inspect cables and connectors for looseness or damage.
- Keep drone, controller and battery firmware up to date via the official app.
- Make a short test flight after updates.
End-of-Season Storage
- Clean and dry the spraying system thoroughly; leave no water in the tank.
- Remove batteries and store them separately at 40-60% charge.
- Store the drone in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, ideally in its case.
- Plan a service check before the next season.
Professional Support
Have critical parts such as motors, ESCs, sensors and radar checked regularly by an authorised service centre. As the official distributor of DJI Agriculture in Türkiye, Daze Tarım provides service and spare parts for the Agras T50, Agras T40 and other models. See current models on our spraying drones page.
