Field Spraying with the Agras T30: Nozzles, Pumps and Routes

26 May 2024

We look one by one at the four components that make the T30 efficient in field spraying: nozzle layout, pumps, solenoid valves and refill-point routing.

Field crop spraying has two classic problems: uneven distribution and missing the right spraying window. The Agras T30 was designed to address both with a wide swath, strong pumps and automatic route planning.

Note: The Agras T30 is a previous-generation DJI spraying drone. The current line-up includes the Agras T50, Agras T55 and Agras T70P. This article is for operators still flying the T30 or considering a used unit.

16 Nozzles and a 9-Metre Swath

The T30 sprays a swath of about 9 m with 16 nozzles. According to DJI, it can cover up to 16 hectares per hour in suitable conditions; real capacity depends on rate, field shape, refill distance and crew organisation. With RTK, routes are flown with centimetre accuracy, avoiding gaps and overlaps.

Plunger Pumps

Horizontally opposed plunger pumps reduce vibration while delivering high power density. Two pumps provide up to 8 L/min, a clear increase over the T20. Maximum operating speed is up to 7 m/s.

Eight Independent Solenoid Valves

Eight independent solenoid valves open and close nozzles quickly without dripping. Controlling nozzle groups separately allows targeted spraying in row crops and reduces waste.

Smart Routes and Refill Suggestions

Continuous level measurement lets the software predict when the tank will be empty and suggest the best refill point, reducing unproductive flights. An automatic edge mode helps cover field edges where a safe distance cannot otherwise be kept.

Getting More Done in the Field

  • Set the refill point near the middle of the field.
  • Prepare the mix in advance; refill time directly affects capacity.
  • Watch wind and temperature: see our weather guide.
