Innovative Solutions for Future Farming: Technologies That Work in the Field
12 April 2023
We take smart farming from buzzwords to the field, showing which technology saves time, inputs and labour in which job, with concrete examples.
Smart farming often brings to mind sensors, AI and big data. For a farmer, the real question is simpler: which technology will save time, inputs or labour on my farm this season? This article focuses on technologies used in the field in Türkiye today with measurable results.
1. Spraying and Spreading Drones
Spraying drones are the fastest-growing smart farming tool. Timely treatment when fields are too wet for tractors, no wheel-track losses and low water use are the main gains. On large areas, models such as the DJI Agras T50 and the current Agras T55 can cover hundreds of decares a day. See Advantages of Agricultural Drones.
2. RTK Centimetre-Level Positioning
Standard GPS has errors of several metres; RTK correction brings that down to centimetres. RTK is the foundation for drone swath control, tractor guidance and land levelling, via your own base station or a network service.
3. Auto-Steering Systems
Retrofit auto-steering keeps the tractor on line to the centimetre during seeding, cultivation, spraying and fertilizing, eliminating gaps and overlaps and reducing operator fatigue. The FJD AT2 auto-steering system is a widely used solution.
4. Crop and Yield Maps
Multispectral scouting drones map crop variability before it is visible to the eye, enabling variable-rate application of fertilizer and crop protection. Yield maps from combines guide next season's plans.
5. Farm Management Software
Collecting what was applied where and when, where machines worked and costs per field in one platform makes decisions easier and supports traceability.
Where to Start?
You do not need everything at once. Start with the job that costs you the most time or money: if spray timing is the problem, a drone; if row guidance and fatigue, auto-steering. As the official distributor of DJI Agriculture, FJDynamics and LOVOL in Türkiye, Daze Tarım offers these solutions under one roof. Start with our spraying and spreading drones.
